Highways Development and Protection Regulation

This Regulation protects and preserves the physical integrity of Alberta’s highway network. This includes enhancing motorist and public safety by regulating developments proximate to the highway network. The Regulation establishes classes of provincial highways and regulates by permit an array of developments when being placed proximate to or connecting with the highway network. Regulated developments include signage and billboards, utility lines, vegetation, certain pipelines, bridge structures, and direct road access.
